Template:Abots/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage[edit]

This template can be used by humans and tools designed for use on various projects to insert {{Archive bottom}} without knowing the local name of the template and its parameters. (on enwiki {{Archive bottom}} happens to have no parameters) The contents of the template should include the local name of {{Archive top}} and its parameters. Factotum uses this when closing discussions. See also {{Atops}}.

The first unnamed parameter should be the closing message, the second (if any) should be the title. The same is true for {{Atops}}, so a tool needs no knowledge of local conventions but can simply blindly insert atops and abots with title and closing message in the parameters for both. On English Wikipedia, the parameters are tossed by abots as the closing message is part of {{Archive top}} here.

Example:

{{subst:Atops|Enough drama for today.|Yes}}
If a tree falls in the forest but nobody archives it, is it still an open discussion?
{{subst:Abots|Enough drama for today.|Yes}}
