@Kantandi: In your edit summary, you asked, "why not add Beydoun to the category of Lebanese geologists rather than delete him from the Iraq Petroleum Company geologists (to which he belongs)?" I added one category: Category:Lebanese geologists, and deleted two: Category:Geology of Yemen and Category:Geologists of the Iraq Petroleum Company. I deleted the first per WP:NOTDEFINING; if someone wants to know more about the geology of Yemen, Beydoun's biography does not help them learn more about that subject. I deleted the second because Beydoun is already in Category:People of the Iraq Petroleum Company; since there are only two Iraq Petroleum Company geologists listed in Category:Geologists of the Iraq Petroleum Company, and because no other Mideast oil company has categories for its employees, I think Category:Geologists of the Iraq Petroleum Company is an example of WP:OVERCAT, and would like to eliminate it. — Gorthian (talk) 18:46, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Gorthian: In my view, Beydoun was fundamental to the unraveling of Yemeni geology (see [[1]]), therefore the link to Category:Geology of Yemen should stay; and the contribution of geologists of the Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC) was fundamental to the oil development of the Middle East - there are plenty of notable IPC geologists to justify Category:Geologists of the Iraq Petroleum Company, see [[2]], they just need to be added to Wikipedia. It is more than simply listing geologists of an oil company - IPC was an important historical oil company. Kantrandi (talk) 06:19, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
