Dubious[edit]

I don't think the FTC settlement has anything to do with YouTube Kids, but rather handling of children-targeted material on the main YouTube website. None of the links provided support the statement that YouTube Kids was involved in the settlement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pavon (talkcontribs) 00:02, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The complaint filed with the FTC (https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/documents/cases/youtube_complaint.pdf) explicitly states that YouTube Kids does not collect prohibited information:

27. In 2015, Defendants created a separate mobile application called “YouTube Kids,” aimed at children age 2-12, generally using content rated Y or G taken from YouTube on an automated basis. Defendants also specifically curate, through manual review, content that appears on the YouTube Kids home screen, which Defendants refer to as the “home canvas.” Content that appears on YouTube Kids continues to be available on YouTube. Unlike Defendants’ practices on YouTube, Defendants do not collect persistent identifiers from users of YouTube Kids in order to serve behavioral advertising. Instead, Defendants monetize YouTube Kids solely through delivery of contextual advertising.

All other references to YouTube Kids in the complaint are simply to point out that Google knew that material on the primary YouTube website was targeting children, because it was also on YouTube Kids. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pavon (talkcontribs) 00:30, 5 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
