A fact from Yam production in Nigeria appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 21 June 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
I think there's a typo in the listed species grown as crops in Nigeria. D. alata is listed as (yellow yam), but I think the author confused that with the separate species, D. cayennensis. D. alata is either white or purple, but not yellow-fleshed.
