Still outdated?[edit]

I was curious to see if this article could still be considered outdated. It has up-to-date information as far as I can tell. 67.137.68.210 (talk) 11:05, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move to San Jose confirmed[edit]

It was reported recently that the Sharks, along with many other teams, will be moving towards the West Coast as part of a realignment, per this source, and confirmed by the local newspaper. I was unsure of whether to include it in this wiki, so I added it here for another experienced editor to include. Thanks! Jd02022092 (talk) 15:06, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of Alumni[edit]

This list seems highly unnecessary. It should probably have limits on how many make this list on either significant playing time in the NHL or international play. Having every player who has ever played for Worcester/Cleveland Barons/ future AHL-San Jose and one game in the NHL could be a very long list. There could also be an argument for notable alumni such as Nick Petrecki who played in one NHL game but is a significant AHL player. 192.81.119.137 (talk) 16:05, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Most AHL pages have a list of notable alumni who have gone on to have successful or notable careers after playing on that AHL team. The players listed are those who have played in Worcester and went on to play in the NHL or other leagues and are considered notables. Cleveland players aren't mentioned and neither are future AHL-San Jose players. DMAN$KATER11 21:28, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

It does seem about half of the AHL teams do have a "notable" alumni section, but I guess I am questioning what makes a player "notable." Is Nick Petrecki notable because he has played about 300 AHL games and one NHL game? How about Dimitri Pätzold who was a significant player for the Worcester Sharks, the Cleveland Barons, and the German National team while only accumulating 3 NHL games? On the other end of the spectrum is someone like Tomas Hertl who is on his way to accumulating 100 NHL games with San Jose but has only played 2 games with Worcester during the All-star break for a bit more experience? I guess I am saying I prefer the notable alumni sections like the Providence Bruins or the Hartford Wolf Pack pages because the quantify "notability," even though I think they can be notable for other things outside of just 100 AHL and 100 NHL games. 192.81.119.137 (talk) 15:14, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Going off of the list criteria used in Providence and Hartford would shorten the "notable" alumni to about 6 or 7 players so for now I just added a bunch of notes on how many games played next to each player (and added a couple that have had significant playing time). Since this franchise seems to have a dearth of long term players from the Worcester Sharks and in the NHL, it might be best to leave it as is. Although it seems weird to include someone as part of a team if they only played less than 10 games for any team. Maybe I will at a later date include limits such as a min. of 38 games with Worcester and 41 games in the NHL (half a seasons worth of contributions respectively.)
