Proposed edits

This article contains some holes in the information it offers. I would like to reorganize its content and expand on it. The new format will contain five major sections total, including four new ones: Education, Employment, Family Structure, and Healthcare. I would like to expand on the implementation of universal elementary education and how it actually affects girls in practice, and the differences in rural versus urban education for girls. I would also like to discuss societal views on women’s education in Ghana and how those have implications for girls’ behavior. I would also like to give some statistics on educational attainment between girls and boys. The employment section will discuss the history of women’s opportunities in the workforce and the different kinds of careers they have generally been a part of in the past and today. For the family structure section, the subsections that I would like to discuss individually in this article include daughters' roles, marriage, fertility, contraception, and child rearing. Issues such as polygamy, religion’s role in the female family role, and of course how the woman’s role in the family has evolved over time will be discussed. Healthcare will be the last new section. I will discuss the differences in healthcare access between women and men in Ghana in general, rural women and urban women, and women in poverty and women of higher socioeconomic status. I would also like to discuss common health concerns for Ghanaian women and at what rate these illnesses are successfully treated for all types of women in Ghana. I will keep Feminist Organizing as the last section and expand on it. I would like to discuss not only the different ways the women have come together to speak out for feminism, but also the reactions from men and potentially the government. The existing article has some neutrality issues, which I would like to fix. Keeping a neutral point of view might be a little difficult when discussing issues in which I feel injustice is prevalent, so I would appreciate any suggestions on how to accomplish this. Peer Review

For the most part, this article is very good overall; it is extremely comprehensive in the areas it addresses with good writing, neutrality, and content. The only things I can think that need to be addressed are the low number of sources for such a long article and the lack of illustrations. However, I know both of these things can be difficult to find, especially for a topic like this, and your article is already really strong without them. I'd suggest check the Wikimedia Commons for pictures you could use, if there are any available. Your existing sources are also very good, and while additional ones would be helpful, I don't think it's necessary. In terms of actual contect, I'm interested to know if there's any kind of female political participation, if there is any kind of documented gender pay gap, and if domestic violence is a problem. This reference can be added to the "Health" category, but can be used to add a Sexual and Reproductive Health subheading. The source describes women's use of contraceptives, such as condoms, their tendency for abortion, and how this all affects their education of sexual violence.

This reference will contribute information that ties together women's education, economic status, and maternal health and how it impacts their empowerment. This relationship mapping will describe how likely it is for women to have certain access to aspects that can ascertain and ensure maternal health when that coincides with another trait.

This source mostly speaks to the gender norms and traditions that are instilled upon women, and how those contribute to the inequality that is inherent in poverty. This means that there is a greater effect on women.

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Women in Ghana's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Violence Against Women Section

Hello! I am interested in adding a violence against women section for this page. I would like to create a new article about violence against women in Ghana and link it to this page. I plan on including information an multiple forms of violence against women in Ghana, such as sexual assault and domestic violence. I would also like to include information on laws in Ghana that relate to violence against women as well as well as a section on activism in Ghana against violence. I would like to add a "crimes against women" page that details the different types of crimes against women that are present in Ghana. I also plan on adding a "politics" section and adding relevant information about women in the political system. Additionally, I will be adding sources and information to the "health" and "education" sections. Your content is comprehensive and thorough. Your lead reflects the most important information in the article, but it gives more weight to women’s rights than other topics. I would suggest shortening the amount you talk about women’s rights in the lead or extending your section on women’s rights in the article. I also recommend contextualizing your statistics and quotes with the source and relevant details to explicitly show that the information is credible and based on legitimate research. A final minor recommendation would be to add a couple more blue links in each section and make sure you link the articles the first time the word comes up. I'm excited to read your final product!
