Stub 15/100. Despite the low mark, there is some useful information here about his role in Bayreuth, but there is plenty of room for expansion in the areas suggested.

  • Family background/studies: 2/5. Some basic information about the family. Nothing about training etc.
  • Early career and assistant director jobs: 0/10. Not covered. Had he done any work before Bayreuth 51?
  • Mature career, including full coverage of work outside opera: 6/25. Some material on his role as director of the Bayreuth Festival, but would expect mention of his policy of commissioning challenging productions such as the 1976 Ring. More on his own productions clearly needed. Does he do work outside Bayreuth?
  • List of productions (if available - with dates when possible) 0/10. None of his productions even named.
  • Critical appreciation (with full sources): 2/15. There's some material on his autocratic leadership style, but I would expect more on attitudes on how he leads the festival and some material on his own productions.
  • Complete videography: 0/10. His Parsifal, for example, is available.
  • Bibliography (if any): 0/10. His autobiography, for example is available.
  • Illustrations: 0/10. Some problems as he is a living person, but once soem criticism is included of his directorial style, there will be grounds to include pictures of some of his work.
  • Inline references, notes, sources, internal and external sources: 5/10. This article has started with a good density of inline referencing. External links in the notes should all have access dates. The gallery of pictures doen't seem to be an active link.

Volunteered for Wehrmacht service[edit]

Because his birth year (1919) was not fully drafted until beginning of war, August/September 1939. The last regular draft call before war, that of fall, 1938, took in men born in 1917. For fall, 1939, without war, 1918 was planned. Wagner took part in the Invasion of Poland, so he must have finished at least his "basic training" before.
