GamesRadar/Official Xbox Magazine article[edit]

So I recently found this article on GamesRadar that talks a little bit about some of the inspirations for the game, and how they didn't want to "cartoonify" the Nazi's. I think this would work well under game development. It also confirms the creative director is Jens Matthies. http://www.gamesradar.com/making-wolfenstein-new-order/

The only problem is that it cites OXM as the writer. Should I just write OXM when making the citation, or just skip the name part?

Websites will often do this with interviews, so as to not give all credit to one writer. I'd suggest writing "Official Xbox Magazine Staff" as the author, but ultimately it's your choice. -- Rhain1999 (talk to me) 21:34, 9 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Similarity with Return To Castle Wolfenstein[edit]

The scenario of the game is very similar to the one of Return To Castle Wolfenstein, but is supposed to take place three years after. There should be some section discussing this subject, as it is not clear how The Old Blood matches with RTCW. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.158.138.142 (talk) 08:14, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Screenshot[edit]

Hey @Gamingforfun365:, take it down a notch. "Have you discussed its removal first? This is a screenshot of the game, and, without a consensus against it, it shall stay for now." Excuse me? There is WP:BRD to begin with. Just because you uploaded the picture orginally does not mean we shouldn't follow Wikipedia guidelines; in this case WP:VGIMAGES: "Screenshots are used to illustrate the game's graphics and gameplay. They illustrate points that can not be adequately covered by text. As for all non-free content, editors must ask themselves whether each new screenshot adds value to the article that could not be done freely otherwise". So let's review: it's a blurry picture of what looks like soldier being shot. His weapon is falling to the ground, blood is coming out of his body. A floating text says "Soldier 400", with a score tally to the top left corner. The caption of the picture reads "preview", is it in fact a preview screenshot, while The Old Blood was being developed? What does the picture communicate to the reader about The Old Blood? What is being shown in the picture that it isn't already covered by text? I don't see any reason to have an unclear screenshot being used. Better no picture than this. --Soetermans. T / C 10:20, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have heard of the BRD process, and the reason why I was like that was because, well, I was not sure because it has stayed for months (indicating that the consensus was that it stay) until, finally, somebody stood up against it, which is quite confusing because, well, I did not get a clear explanation about the status of the consensus (which was left unchangd for months).
At least, we do have something which illustrates, but, if you really think that this picture must be replaced with something possibly better, then, I would be more than happy to do just that. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:10, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And the last thing which disturbs me (enough to make me sound like a vandal) was that the revert with all due respect sounded more like an opinion other than what it was trying to state, which made me sound like someone who deserves a block. Also, when I read "Excuse me?", it sounded as if I had just taken advantage of you, which makes me sound like a true psychopath, and I apologize for all of this. Anyways, I am getting a better image. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:25, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
When you ask "have you discussed its removal first?", like you did in your edit summary, it sounds as if you're telling me that I should've. It was redundant in the first place, because it was obvious I didn't discuss it. Just because the picture was there for a while is not a reason to assume it's here to stay. Also, you don't have to react so sensitively about editing Wikipedia. If you want to get blocked just because of this, that's up to you. I have no desire in seeing you blocked. --Soetermans. T / C 13:20, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It was not the duration of how long it stayed, but it was rather how many other editors seemed to have had an attitude about it, and that was the thing: it must have been okay, I thought that the picture had been great, and it took me a while to see that we had entirely different perspectives as to whether we like one current a or want b instead, but, other than that, you certainly are right that it can take a while just for someone possibly more skilled and less ignorant than I am to demonstrate the flaws of something finally.
Also, I cannot help how, after practicing incorrectly, which should have been obvious, I seem to try to come up with ways (although not severe) in order to have myself punished, and all of that is likely to be part of my (neuro)psychiatric disorders which are autism and OCD. I would like to stop doing that, but that is the only way hiw I can ironically fix myself. Sorry. Incidentally, the image has been replaced. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 04:07, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Soetermans: My main point is that I apologize for my moderate perfectionism and my consequential sarcasm about myself. (I was told to write that message and ping you about it by my OCD because it keeps reminding me of the incident.) Gamingforfun365 (talk) 01:27, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you want me to say, @Gamingforfun364:@Gamingforfun365:. I haven't responded before, because while the new image is better than the one before, to me, it still fails WP:VGIMAGES. The caption reads "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood preview". I see a weapon, pointing to a mechanical beast of some sort, standing below what looks like a bus stop or a fenced barrier. In the top right corner, there's a truck on its side. What does that image say about the gameplay of The Old Blood? What does the image say that text can't? I haven't said this before, just because you reacted in such a way. --Soetermans. T / C 13:18, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, it is literally—literaly—impossible for one to find a good image for the article. I feel as though I have found one of the many right images, but I am not knowing how I can improve. Also, it is Gamingforfun365; you had a typo. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 02:52, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What do you suggest shall the image have? I would like to find a more appropriate picture on my own, but I do not think that I quite know what my image must have. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:17, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Gamingforfun365:, my apologies, I didn't mean to make a typo. Well, there's no guideline that says that every video game article should have a gameplay screenshot, but when it does, it should be used to show something that can't (or hardly can) be explained by text. That can be both gameplay or design-wise. So for instance, BioShock Infinite shows one gameplay screenshot with the player-character riding the Sky-Line, a game specific feature but also shows the setting of Columbia. Portal combines the two, it shows the gameplay element of the two portals and the esthetics of the game. Working together with @Rhain:, I made the The Last of Us screenshot, which shows the game's "Listen Mode", which would be very hard to describe in text. Now, I haven't played The Old Blood, but what stands out in its gameplay? Or maybe something that shows how it is different from The New Order? What about this image, does the mechanical beast also appear in The New Order? If not, the caption could read something like "in The Old Blood, the player has to fight of mechanized animals". --Soetermans. T / C 08:17, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the screenshot's description so that it would say "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood preview of a player's firing upon an AI beast.". Is that okay? Gamingforfun365 (talk) 00:52, 12 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We're getting there, but it is not optimal. By preview, you mean it is a screenshot from the game during development? And does the AI beast appear in The New Order? I would rephrase it something like "Unlike (or like) in The New Order, the player has to fight off AI beasts in The Old Blood". --Soetermans. T / C 11:40, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at it now to see its improved description. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 20:40, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Gamingforfun365: Great! Thumbs up icon --Soetermans. T / C 07:20, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Then, it is a success. Thank you for your suggestions for improving the screenshot. Gamingforfun365 (talk) 03:33, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Helga von Schabbs Rank[edit]

Helga von Schabbs isnt a Standartenführer, she is a Obersturmbannführer. In the first level you can hear a conversation between her and a subordinate. Furthermore in one level you can also find a letter adressing her as Obersturmbannführer. 213.214.9.242 (talk) 09:13, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
