Theme[edit]

For the Dead Dog stories, the theme is remixed (or recharted); some fans (such as myself) consider it an excellent change on a fine theme, making the remix one of the best TV themes ever. Trekphiler 09:30, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As a side note, some of the pop songs used as part of the soundtrack, even to highlight certain scenes, were removed/remixed on the DVD's and replaced by other tunes obstensibly due to copyright permission issues. It really watered down the emotional impact of those key scenes.

The ones that standout for me were Sonny & Vincent had just finished slugging it out in the movie theatre playing "Nights in White Satin" and a scene when McPike is drowning his sorrows in a Bar after his wife told him to move out with the jukebox playing "Hit The Road,Jack" and then he gets off of his stool and shoot's the Jukebox with his service revolver. The replacement tunes doesn't do it for me. 74.243.7.56 (talk) 05:33, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Project80s link spam[edit]

I removed the above link but was reverted by another editor with the summary "How is this spam?"

The link has been spammed by 24.190.112.45, Kckoch and 151.202.237.10, who between them have made over 100 edits to Wikipedia, almost every edit has been to promote the project80s site. That's pretty much our definition of external linkspamming. If regular editors of this article think the link is actually a very good one you should, obviously, feel free to keep it. However, if it's not truly excellent I would encourage you to remove it in an effort to discourage spammers from over-running Wikipedia with promotional edits. Thanks. -- Siobhan Hansa 22:37, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Morgan and Wong?[edit]

There's a text box at the bottom of the article with links to shows that Morgan and Wong worked on. Fabulous, but...I don't think they ever worked on Wiseguy, and there's no documentation in the article that they did, either. I think it needs to be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sherrold (talkcontribs) 19:52, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Production section?[edit]

This series had a great deal of behind-the-scenes turmoil, just barely hinted at in the article as of this writing. Ken Wahl's injury during the Garment Trade arc, resulting in Anthony Denison taking over, and leading to a resolution which they could not have done with Wahl–as–Terranova, for one instance. The departure of Wahl between Seasons Three and Four (he said the producers fired him, they said he quit), and the fact that he returned for a "reunion" TV-movie that ignored the final season (which had itself ignored the third year's finish!) is another. I have never viewed either the Wahl-less and Miami-based final season or the reunion movie, hence all this "ignoring" comes as a surprise to me. I strongly recommend that someone who has access to a good source add such a section. --Tbrittreid (talk) 23:28, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcast Times[edit]

Notably missing from this article are the time slots when the series was broadcast. I watched the series when it was on and the original time slot for the show (where I lived anyway) was 11:30 p.m. after the late local news. The show did amazingly well for having multi-episode story arcs and intricate plots in a late night slot. In the off season, the show was replaced often by Steven Carnell Presents. Anyway, when Wahl left and the show went Cuban-American, it was reslotted in the 10 p.m. slot right before the local news. Ten p.m. is a tough slot, many shows die there. This is an important factor in the final cancellation of the show.

The demise of Terranova is also not quite correct. My recollection is that he was thrown out of a plane over the Gulf between Florida and Latin America (Panama?). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.103.32 (talk) 01:02, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Guzman/New York DA storyline[edit]

The character name of Amado Guzman seems eerily close to real-life Havana-born dodgy Florida politician (appointed by President Clinton as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida) Alberto Gutman, a Cuban-American who, subsequent to the cancellation of Wiseguy, was found to be involved in serious financial misdeeds and who served prison time for them. Article needs cleanup[edit]

This article needs a lot of cleanup, and trimming. For example, the "arc episode tables" are completely unnecessary, and need to be removed.

In general, this article is overwritten, especially on the story end... It might be a better idea to move a lot of that to Wiseguy (season 1), Wiseguy (season 2), etc. type articles. There currently is a List of Episodes article in Draftspace – Draft:List of Wiseguy episodes – that may also be useful for this project... On my end, I'll see what I can do, but I probably can't tackle this all on my own... --IJBall (contribstalk) 22:41, 2 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IJBall. Did you ever get any feedback on your comments here? I just spent a lot of time trying to clean up the article (stylistically and code wise, not for real content), and now that I'm happy enough with the display and accessibility of the page, I read your note and think, "yeah, those arc episode tables are redundant". The info is actually above in the season episode tables, just without any arc–episode-span connections.
Would you still favor their removal? Or ought they be preserved for migration into (four) season articles? FYI: I can pretty much guarantee that I won't be creating such articles myself. :-P   Happy editing, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 06:55, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JohnFromPinckney: I never did. Basically, this article shouldn't have episodes tables (and, incidentally, the episode tables should be changed to properly use the {{Episode table}} template) and these long, overly detailed "season" sections. At this point, it would probably make the most sense to move the episodes tables, and possibly a lot of that "season" content to List of Wiseguy episodes, leaving just a much shorter 'Story'-type summary section (sans any tables) here. But the "storyarc" info can easily be integrated into the episodes tables with use of the {{Episode table}} and {{Episode table/part}} templates, which would allow for elimination of those "redundant" mini-tables. --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:20, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WiseguyWiseguy (TV series) – Pageviews are comparable to that of Wiseguy (book), therefore no primary topic. See here. 162 etc. (talk) 02:27, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per nomination. There are 16 entries listed upon the Wise guy disambiguation page and the TV series' renown does not overwhelm the combined notability of the remaining 15 entries. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 03:00, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, and redirect the current title to Wise guy. BD2412 T 05:59, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the TV series has 111,567 views but the book has 110,437, very close. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - it's unlikely this TV series is the first thing that comes into people's minds globally. And it's certainly not a film either which Wiseguy (film) is redirected to this article. (The first thing that comes into my mind about Wiseguy is the Simpsons character.) Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
