William Stephens (governor of Georgia)William Stephens (colonial administrator) – The current disambiguation phrase seems too role-specific. Also, if it's intended to represent his formal title, perhaps "governor" would be capitalized. He was not a governor of the U.S. State of Georgia; rather, he was an appointed colonial governor of the Province of Georgia (a.k.a. the Georgia Colony). He did not have a deep history in Georgia; rather, he was age 66 before he ever went there, and had previously been an MP in the UK parliament. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:00, 21 December 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 23:01, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. I don't see any benefit to the proposed title. It covers the same position and time period while being somewhat less precise and recognizable. "Georgia" can describe its entire history, as both colony and state, and both had governors. "Politician" or "MP" are both partial dabs, so I can't think of anything better than the current title. WP:DAB and WP:NCPDAB encourage the use of broad categorizations as disambiguating terms, like "politician" rather than "governor" and "musician" rather than "harpist". A position-specific title should only be needed if a more broad category would be ambiguous. Even then, some seem to prefer using a birth date rather than a specific position description. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:30, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom. Standard disambiguator. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:11, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't appear to be standard. I can find only 3 governors of the thirteen colonies disambiguated with "colonial administrator" (2 of whom were also governors in the Caribbean), but 50 or more who are disambiguated using "governor". Station1 (talk) 02:19, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What I mean is it's the standard disambiguator for British colonial governors! -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:36, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
