Closure threat

A large section was deleted, claiming it was not encyclopaedic. It may be that this text represented only one side of a difficult argument; the replacement appears to present an anodyne sense of there being no problem. I read a few of the external references to the former version, and it would appear there is a problem.

In situations like this I would ask representatives of both points of view to stick to a referenced presentation of the arguments both for and against, presenting a non-point of viewpoint, otherwise it looks a lot like an edit war. Whatever is left should reflect both sides of the argument and allow the reader to make their own minds up from external sources.

There already appears to have been a number of reversions, so please be aware of the WP:3R policy; and discuss changes here.

Seconded. It is unacceptable to remove referenced material like this. I will leave a note on the user talk page. Tyrenius 22:40, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge the curator was still in employment and there are no plans to close the gallery, according to the Council they have spent tens of thousands refurbishing the gallery... Perhaps the page should be updated so it is accurate.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.171.213.253 (talkcontribs) 12:02, 20 June 2007

Well, opponents of the closure updated this page yesterday, with details from the supporters AGM on 8 Jun 2007. So, perhaps the page is partially accurate? Naz Sarkar no longer has the Arts & culture portfolio (May 19), ah, yes try for the dismissal of at least one named member of staff. The page does need updating with recent events. It needs to be non-point of view (either way), but equally needs to reflect the controversy that apparently continues. Kbthompson 12:45, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
