Yale Law Journal Article[edit]

Kuebler was not "featured" in the Yale Law Journal article, he was very briefly mentioned in one paragraph of a 50 page article. on page 21. Plus, his mention is in the context of his retaining counsel due to competing bills pending in Congress (relating to the legality of self-representation of his client). Edney & Kuebler[edit]

I know both Edney and Kuebler, and am on close terms with Whitling. I am not an attorney for Omar Khadr or anything like that, but have asked them about the issue and can tell you that none of them agree with the media depiction of their disagreement in the fall. If there was a disgreement, they all seem to have moved past it, so that is why I didn't think the paragraph was accurate. As far as the picture, I just didn't think it was a very good one and was able to get better ones from his fellow lawyers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brichel (talkcontribs) 17:01, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With the photos, I think it's an issue of a fairly straight-forward photograph, versus one of him posed staring at his shoes or something - I think we're good as-is, with the two photos, the large one at the top, and then the smaller one (which is the most "different", since his jacket is off, no glasses, he's facing the other direction) at the bottom for composition. You also removed mention of the fact that a lawyer was barred from entering GTMO on account of his disagreement with Kuebler, which would seem notable. Otherwise your changes seem to improve the article and help combat any creeping bias in my words, though I'd like to remove the "victim of al-Qaeda" quote, or at least move it, so that we go straight from "Kuebler said the intentions of the MCA were..." "...and the author of the MCA act agreed" Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 17:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I take your point. What do you think of this picture? I got it from Michelle Sheppard from the Toronto Star, from a talk he apparently gave? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brichel (talkcontribs) 19:22, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sheppard would need to agree to release it to the public domain, and you'd need to send evidence to permissions@wikimedia.org (generally forwarding Sheppard's eMail there, or a scan of their letter) - but I agree it's the nicest picture thusfar. Just get permissions@wikimedia.org to confirm it's public domain. Sherurcij (Speaker for the Dead) 19:50, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
