North Dakota / Minnesota border[edit]

It seems as though this river forms part of the border between these two states. There are articles for it in each state, but neither article says anything about it being the border between them.

If it IS the border, both articles should say so, shouldn't they? (I'd fix it myself, but I'm no expert on the borders, etc.) Lou Sander 12:49, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The state boundary is the Red River of the North. There are two different rivers named "Wild Rice River," both of which flow to the Red River. (One river flows to the east, the other flows to the west.) Neither of them defines the state border; they might be thought of as ending at the state boundary.--Malepheasant 13:18, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm REAL glad I didn't make any edits based on my incomplete knowledge! (That's a good practice for everyone.) I heard of the Wild Rice this morning, and looking at the maps didn't make it clear just what river was where. (Unlabeled or poorly labeled rivers, if I remember correctly.) Looking further, again without expert knowledge, maybe the introduction of each Wild Rice River article should include something like "There is another river with the same name in (state); it is also a tributary of the Red River of the North, entering that river about (number) miles to the (north or south) of this one." That would do a lot to dispel confusion in us Easterners who see the articles. Lou Sander 15:08, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
