license-plate doo-wop wop onomatopoeia onamatapea flat-tire

Please note ==
  • doo-wop, music lyric, as well as a music culture
  • "whop", or "whop-whop", or "whop, whop", an
onomatopoeia [or onamatapea], of something being deflated, or the deflation as a result, such as regarding a flat-tire
  • wop, an Italian insult, or an insult or slur about an Italian, including an Italian-American; in race humor, an automobile from a company with connotation largely related to Italy, including reference to a flat-tire; some state government motor vehicle agencies prohibit any allusion to "whopper", "whop", "wop", regarding license-plate allocation.

I don't think any of this belongs here. I think there sould be a "whop" page for all this.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:45, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

see Wiktionary:whop in english whop is the root meaning to hit, whopper should mean someone who whops but instead it's come to mean large probably from the adjective use of the present participal whopping (which is a reasonable derivation as something large is more likely to whop than something small) . Reasonably I would suggest reversing the redirect and having all of this under whop. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 06:20, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is Whopper (disambiguation) done properly?

I've never heard of whop meaning whopper, so I'm confused as to why whop redirects here. I tried to change it but someone else changed back to a redirect and added what I had done.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions ·

Vchimpanzee, there's no need to bring every question that you have to the village pump. The article talk page is the appropriate place for such discussion. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:43, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't think they followed policy or guidelines or whatever it is. I can't see the justification for what was done and no one's going to look at the talk page.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 21:37, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it was done properly, from a perspective of whatever policy we have on disambiguation pages. But it will be regarded by future generations of wikipedians as a first class example of WP:IAR. The disambiguation policy compliant way to handle the issue would (probably) have caused the mass of users to have to click more times than the current solution requires. I suggest that it's a triumph of pragmatism over the pedantic. For those not following this explanation, there's more here. I tend to agree, though, that the VP is not the place to bring instances of policy disputes. The article talk page and the other users task page would be the first places to go. Wikipedia:Third opinion would be the next place, if you get no satisfaction from the first two. --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:03, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I tried the talk pages of the two persons involved. One gave a response which was gibberish (unless English was his/her second language) and then someone else explained how this person had some sort of different equipment which made things look strange. The other person hadn't responded in several days. I just didn't expect a response here.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 12:57, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A burger with poop with fresh tv and mid sized bathroom floor with mid size children bun and finger nail seed and trump filing in for toppings — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.44.209.199 (talk) 15:13, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation page needs to be semi-protected[edit]

Anonymous users are vandalizing the disambiguation. The Whopper is sold by Burger King and its Australian franchise Hungry Jack's, not Wendy's and Chick-fil-A. There was also a sentence that the burger is usually disgusting and usually has molded meat. That is an opinion, and it violates WP:NPOV.
