Current Status[edit]

>A second round of public meetings is planned for November and December 2010.

It's now January 2011. Did these meetings take place? What happened?173.58.53.212 (talk)

The purpose of these meetings was to narrow down the number of modes under consideration. They did not discuss alignment. Staff discussed a wide variety of modes - including bus, streetcar, light rail, dmu/emu, high-speed rail, and maglev - including their pros, cons, costs and benefits. Then they asked attendees which modes would best serve their neighborhoods, and why.
This project is very early in development. Right now they are just narrowing down options. Jcovarru (talk) 00:04, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What's the point in building this? We already have Metrolink connecting the two counties and the upcoming CaHSR will whisk people from Anaheim to Downtown LA in less than 20 minutes. Won't this be duplication of existing service? Wouldn't it be better to use this money elsewhere?173.58.53.212 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Metrolink only runs a few times a day, and doesn't have stops in many of the cities through which this route runs. HSR, if built, would only have stops at Anaheim and Norwalk.. Light rail/BRT would have stops more often along the route and run much more often than Metrolink or HSR. It's not duplication of existing service, it's diferent services. Metrolink is oriented to people commuting into LA, HSR would be oriented for people taking long trips, and light rail/BRT would be oriented towards local residents. Plus, it'd provide economic benefit to the cities along the route. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.195.15.105 (talk) 03:09, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
