Station named changed to "Michell" last fall (October?). I'll make some updates to this Wiki page but we need a reference: newspaper clipping as minimum, or better yet something official from town of Hinsdale or Metra or BNSF. Casey (talk) 23:48, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I believe a trackside checkpoint was renamed, but certainly not the station. The most recent BNSF Line and RTA System maps, in addition to Metra's website, still refer to the station as West Hinsdale.
I personally suggest no further updates to the page relating to Mitchell, but that's just me. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 00:30, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Tnx; I agree with no change until if & when Metra makes an official change. Google street-level indeed shows "Mitchell" on the signal gantry on each side of this station, and the BNSF employee timetable lists it as Mitchell as per Item 20 in the NTSB Docket for last year's train-truck incident in Clarendon Hills: https://data.ntsb.gov/Docket/?NTSBNumber=HWY22MH009Casey (talk) 03:02, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found what you are referring to, and it is for a Chicago Subdivision control point, which was indeed renamed in February 2022. Metra, on the other hand, will rename the passenger station accordingly when pigs fly, as it remains on the west side of Hinsdale, and I could not find any nearby Mitchell streets or avenues that would make the change less confusing to passengers. But if it does happen, I will support page updates and perhaps a move. Hotdog with ketchup (talk) 04:05, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
