What kinds of clothing?[edit]

The beginning of the article talks of garments in general; however, much of the content makes sense only for dresses. To start at the beginning:

"The waistline is the line of demarcation between the upper and lower portions of a garment"

OK, so it could maybe apply to some styles of coat as well. But can't a waistline also be the edge of a garment - the bottom of a top, or the top of a bottom?

That said, I'm not sure to what extent the "Types of waistlines" section could be improved on this basis. Unless you count styles of waistband on trousers and the like, but I'm not sure if that's the same thing.... -- Smjg 17:35, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, all detailed descriptions in the article refer exclusively to women's clothing, though it doesn't say so. Churchh (talk) 13:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Add to that there are no citations whatsoever. This alone makes me question the validity of it.--Jovantheun1337 (talk) 07:52, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well men wear belts, but in the history of western fashion, only women have had waistlines that move up (empire silhouette) or down with fashion changes, or shaped waistlines ("V" etc). Churchh (talk) 07:52, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
