UPN Affiliation[edit]

Wasn't WUHF also Rochester's UPN affiliate for a number of years when UPN first came on the air? I don't know the details, but I recall that when UPN was new, WUHF carried all of their shows, but they had some sort of limited affiliation whereby they aired the shows in timeslots that didn't conflict with their Fox programming, instead of the standard UPN time slots. -Erik Harris 14:24, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is based upon a very vague memory from the mid-late 1990s. UPN wasn't originally a network. It was a batch of about four syndicated shows. The most notable of which was Babylon 5 (to me, anyways). Once UPN became a network, it got a bit problematic for Fox affiliates and other non-independent stations that were carrying UPN programming. I seem to recall them finding away around this, perhaps it's what you're referring to? TimBRoy (talk) 07:29, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of TV Poww/Ranger Bob Show?[edit]

Howdy Buckaroos! I'm sure there's some encyclopedic references somewhere to Ranger Bob and his afternoon kids' shows. I'm perplexed that All Night Live got a mention and this didn't. Originally it was a cartoon show with video game elements to it. Kids who didn't own an Atari could phone in, and yell "POWW!" into the phone, which would trigger something to happen in a video game on screen. WPIX had a similar video game show, except the kids would yell "PIX!" into their phone.

One thing I do remember is that a week or a month or so before the station originally went live there was a showing of "It's a Wonderful Life." Possibly that was chosen due to the time of year and the fact that the film was by then public domain. I almost want to say that they showed it repeatedly.
