Suggestions for the article[edit]

Once the format changes are complete, this makes sense to me:

I"ve requesting that the article be moved to WIBC, which will allow for AM and FM histories to stay together.
Merge the content of the current WEXM article into WIBC. The WEXM calls will not be remembered by listeners, since they're only temporary.
Create a new page for WFNI.

Buzzard date(s)[edit]

I've searched thoroughly online via Google news, books, etc. — I cannot find a single reliable source which dates the premiere of the "Buzzard" mascot/logo and use of the "Wrath of the Buzzard" phrase at this station (during years as WNAP) prior to their use at WMMS Cleveland in April 1974. Based on this edit (by an unregistered user), and based on that editor's contributions, I suspect that editor may in fact be Randy Michaels, or someone associated with Randy Michaels either personally or professionally. Michaels was head of Jacor Communications in the 1990s and oversaw the purchase of many, many radio stations, including WMMS in 1998. Former WMMS program director John Gorman is a vocal critic of corporate radio, and this may have been a dig at Gorman on the part of Michaels. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Regardless, I've reverted the 2009 edit. Use of the Buzzard mascot, the phrase "Wrath of the Buzzard", its origin (partly inspired by a cartoon depicting two buzzards, with one saying to the other "Patience, my ass. I'm gonna kill something!"), etc. at WMMS are well documented online and in print. I see no reason to disregard the WMMS sources until a reliable source confirming that WNAP used the "Buzzard"/"Wrath of the Buzzard" prior to April 1974 is found. Update. A documentary on Indianapolis rock radio in the 1960s and 70s was recently released in January 2012. The following link is from the film's website: http://www.naptownrockradiowars.com/trivia/

"WNAP’s mascot, The Buzzard, was inspired by a popular poster at the time which shows two vultures sitting on a branch, one saying to the other 'Patience my ass, I’m gonna kill something.' The WNAP Buzzard was originally drawn with the remains of a WIFE banner in it’s beak. It had eaten the competition."

Gorman published a book four or five years (2007) prior to the release of this film which details the same story about the Buzzard's inspiration — but for WMMS, not WNAP. Levdr1lp (talk) 08:18, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
