Does anyone have a copy of the WFFT's original rotating tape-reel logo? —optikos 19:56, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sign-on was definitely prior to 1981[edit]

This article's history section requires more factual accuracy and investigation. WFFT's sign on (under that call sign, in fact) was multiple years prior to 1981, probably around 1978, if I remember correctly that I was in fifth grade when I would come home after school and watch Little Rascals on the brand new (albeit somewhat amateurish) WFFT. (I wouldn't have been as interested in Little Rascals in 1981 as an early-teenager.) Prior to being owned by Steve Shine's Great Trails Broadcasting since 1981, WFFT was owned by another company which was the first owner and applicant of the FCC license (if someone can dig up those FCC records). Prior to 1981, programming as an independent was rerunning old programming from the 1950s (e.g., Leave it to Beaver) and movie-serials programming from the 1920s to the 1940s (e.g., Little Rascals, Our Gang). For those editors of this article who watched WFFT prior to being purchased by the group that includes Steve Shine (local Fort Wayne Republican Party leader, lawyer), would remember the station's oft-played logo prior during the late 1970s: an animation of two AMPEX video tape reels turning slowly that formed the circular lower part of each 5 of 55. Also, because as an independent the pre-1981 WFFT was low-budget enough to not provide listing of its programming schedule in the local newspaper, the pre-1981 WFFT would frequently list the upcoming several hours of shows for a few seconds during commercial breaks. Then Great Trails purchased WFFT with the intent (and partial success during the mid-1980s) of turning WFFT into a regional all-movie superstation that would be picked up on numerous cable systems in the midwest-/Great-Lakes-region not unlike WTBS in Atlanta. During the 1981 to pre-Fox era, WFFT was known as SuperStation55. —Optikos 02:46, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Goodbye "Fox 55", Hello "Fox Fort Wayne"[edit]

I have made some changes on the page to reflect the WFFT article as of January 1, 2008. A logo gallery was added to the article.
