The following text was removed from the article, due to it being a nearly verbatim copy of the account on WABG's website, a violation of WP:COPYVIO.

WABG-TV's first broadcast was on October 20, 1959, as an independent station. It quickly joined the CBS network, but switched to ABC after complaints from WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi that WABG was encroaching on its coverage area. Until WXVT in Greenville began operations in 1980, WJTV served as the default CBS affiliate for the southern counties in the Delta, while Memphis' WREG-TV brought CBS programming to the northern counties.

WABG established "Delta FOX" on September 13, 2006, the day after FOXNET shut down. The nationwide FOXNET channel originally provided FOX programming to cable subscribers in the Greenville/Greenwood/Cleveland television market, which was one of the last markets to be offered the service. FOXNET originally planned to close down on September 1, 2006, but was delayed until September 12, 2006 to allow WABG time to quickly put a FOX affiliate on a new digital subchannel.
