Immigration status[edit]

As the daughter of a US citizen father, Victoria Fyodorova would have qualified for either permanent residence or derivative US citizenship. I don't know why she would have needed to marry to stay in the US, which is clearly implied in the article ("they married just days before her visa expired"). She could also have applied for asylum, which would almost certainly have been granted in the Cold War period. Quis separabit? 15:27, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
