The taxonomy of Vallisneria is complicated and many cultivated (hybrids ?) forms are available in the aquarium trade, of doubtful status. I have followed what seems to be the general consensus in delimiting the different species but I suspect that a thorough revision of this genus is overdue and will produce a number of changes in the future Hermeswiki 15:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
