Edits[edit]

I would never delete someone's article. But this one needed a lot of editing, because there were problems with it.

It is always a problem to say that certain horses were champions prior to 1936. That's the first time that championship titles were given with any kind of official standing. Publications from the 19th century were cited, giving Vagrant championships for 1875 and 1876, but they weren't official by modern standards. (As an example of what I mean, baseball doesn't recognize achievements prior to 1900, even though some of them were more impressive than more recent ones that enjoy official standing.)

Vagrant won five of six starts as a 2-year-old; this was in the table, and it was his record in 1875, not 1876. The table said that he won three of four in 1876, as a 3-year-old.

Also, in horse racing a 3-year-old is not a "juvenile." Only 2-year-olds are juveniles.

I'm only trying to be helpful here. Hardly anyone nowadays knows who Vagrant was, and this article helps keep his name alive. Rontrigger (talk) 09:07, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
