The article states that "Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey also featured Utrenja and The Dream of Jacob extensively". Something must be wrong here, as 2001 was released in 1968, before Utrenja (1970/71) and The Dream of Jacob (1974) were written. I think you could be right. The original quotation that I consulted is a description by Cindy Bylander, which reads: "This article contains a brief discussion about the compositions by Penderecki that were used in the film “2001, A Space Odyssey.” Approximately two thirds of the film’s score is made from excerpts from Utrenia, The Awakening of Jacob, and De Natura Sonoris No. 2." I just checked IMDb, and no reference is made to Utrenja. Therefore, the only explanation I can come up with is that only sketches of Utrenja were used in the film, since the composition was premiered two years later. Still, I will try to verify that.
