Untitled[edit]

Please feel free to comment and expand the article. I have setup the very basic origins of urban planning in China. This is intended to serve as basis for further expansion incorporating examples of urban planning from traditional and post-1945 city structures in PRC. China's history is extensive (over 8,000 years) and geographic variation make it increasingly difficult to classify and simply place cities under a single heading or category for this reason. Traditional urban settlements, towns, cities and the modern mega-cities/global also present extensive variation due to governance, economic and social changes over such a period. Further, it is paramount that connections between traditional and modern planning in China are illustrated.

EX: Traditionally planned rural hamlets at increased densities (compared to those of of the west) create a cultural and socio-economic features. Those features are retained and later directly integrated with the adoption of western planning, design and engineering practices. The result are extremely dense and high rise populated cities such as Shanghai.

Thank you to those of you who expand upon this article in the future! J03K64 (talk) 11:26, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

It seems that 2009 content from this article may have been plagiarised by this 2010 book: Are You Listening, Prime Minister?: A Coffee Table Analyst's Perspective On India's Development And Development Objectives. Another possibility is that this article plagiarised from some earlier version of this book, or both the book and the article drew content from some unknown third source. Hello[edit]

Hi folks. I'm a student who's been assigned to improve this article, particularly the expanding sources for the section on current policy. If you have any recommended sources to look at, or ideas for what needs editing, I'd be delighted to discuss them. Thanks for your time. Hecsmithmills (talk) 23:23, 12 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism section[edit]

It appears that the only citation for the criticism section is from a blog of a single Norwegian student writing about Chinese urban planning in 2012. It might be better to have either more citations to show that these are in fact opinions held by multiple academics or to edit down this section so it shows points that are of a more general consensus.
