NPOV

I doubt the neutrality ("The Unknown Archont must have been an incredible leader.") and the veracity of this article. Cite sources! dbenbenn | talk 18:43, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

I agree with you. Bulgaria was founded in 681 and was under Roman rule in the period 1018-1185. Before year 971 Bulgaria was clearly the dominant power in the Balkans. The Avars were hurt badly in 790s by Frankish king Charlemagne, then finished off in 804 by Simeon the Great. This article looks like written by a Serbian guy trying to create history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.83.251.180 (talk) 06:52, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

date of death?

How do we know he died in 680? What is the source for this? --Joy [shallot] 12:26, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

Fought the Avars?

It is well known that the Croats fought them, Serbs did not. Administrando de imperio clearly says that Serbs were settled there where the Avars expelled Romans. Administrando clearly mentions Croats fighting and expelling Avars, thus forming a Croatian state. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.131.56.1 (talk) 18:17, 7 December 2006 (UTC).

Um, no it doesn't. De Administrando never makes a clear distinction between Serbs and Croats.... 99.236.221.124 (talk) 12:56, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

The Unknown Archont who led the unknown White Serbs to an unlnown place... ==Vladko (talk) 20:50, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Unknown Archont

Just to laugh at this... Unknown Archont, we don't know nothing about him, hell, we don't know did he existed, but we know when he lived and what he done... this article is big joke.--Wustenfuchs 14:30, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

And his predecessor is Serbian great lider named "Unnamed Knyaz", nice one.--Wustenfuchs 14:32, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

This is conventional name for the person whose name is unknown, but as you may see: "conventional name given by historians to the Serbian leader who led the White Serbs from their homeland to settle in the Balkans after 610, during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Heraclius (610-641)." As we have sources, it is highly relevant. And we have 5 other wikis with the same article. --WhiteWriter speaks 15:58, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Complete rewrite

I will do a complete rewrite of the article, beginning a draft. Firstly, the name "Unknown Archont" is wrong in spelling (a -t- at the end) and the most used variants seems to be "Serb Archon" Blagojević-Medaković-Ljušić 2000, p. 14, 53: "Срби су на Балканско полуострво дошли под својим вођом, којег Константин Порфирогенит титулише једноставно „архонт Србин", односно кнез", (Serb Archon), or Bešić 1967, p. 366: "Српски непознати архонт из доба Ираклија", and Лесковац-Форишковић-Попов 2004, p. 265: "У низу владара из династије коју је основао по имену непознати архонт, који је Србе довео на Балкан у време цара Ираклија (610—641), а умро пре досељења Протобугара (679)" (Serbian Unknown Archon, Unknown Archon), or "анонимни архонт" (Anonymous Archon). The "Serb Archon" may be the best, although it has ambiguity with the title "Archon of the Serbs".--Zoupan 06:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
