Not entirely happy with talking about being "behind the play", if the defenceis taking the ball out of their circle and mvoing it forward, that can be useful, and it can sometimes be useful to follow a quick break into the D, but it's often useful to be ahead of attacking play as it moves from the halfway to the 23m line - apart from anything else that means you can see your colleague more easily. What sort of positioning were you intending to convey, have the ball between you and the backline, which would be behind the play as an attack moves towards the circle, or vice-versa, which would be behind the play as the ball is moved out of the circle?
