Name[edit]

Since we already have a well developed article Ukraine after the Russian Revolution it is best to have this one as an article about the WWI and merge the second half into the existing article. I moved the article accordingly and added the entry to the template:History of Ukraine. If developed, this article would greatly contribute to the History of Ukraine series. --Irpen 02:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian nationalism[edit]

Ukrainian nationalism played a major role in course of the World War I???? Who invented that? What is the point of such fact even to mention in this article? Is this a scientific analysis or a simple speculation by a historian-amateur? What about the Pan Slavism, Moskvophilism, and other ideological currents that did exist in this period of time and place? Why is that being simply omitted? But yea, those Ukrainian nationalists again deserted all of the Central Europe killing all the Jews, Poles, Russians, Austrians, Romanians, Australians, Papua New-Guineans.... What is that all about, truthfully? Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 07:06, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Ukrainian nationalism was on the cultural level and there were simply attempts to attain a possibility to express oneself. When the Bolsheviks took power in Petrograd no one wanted to deal with those lunatics. And when Austrians withdrew from Galicia, Ukrainians proclaimed independence only on the territories where Ukrainian population was predominant. Even the Carpatho-Ukraine waited until the break of the World War II in hope to get the international recognition. Today it seems that Ukrainians are somebody who always do not like anybody and their country is in complete disorder and with no law. In reality is far from the truth. The Ukrainian nationalism could not influence neither of the World Wars or anything in similar regard. The Ukrainian People's Republic political platform was federalism with Russia and possibility to speak in native language. That where the Ukrainian nationalism ends.
