Clarification needed?[edit]

This edit caught my eye. The edit summary says, "Clarify the actual country that fired its first shot", but the edit does not do that. Looking for details, I see in the article that the article says, that Ward's attack took place at 06:37. The Attack on Pearl Harbor article does not seem to clearly indicate the time of the first Japanese shot, but I see that "Aircraft Attack Organization". Ibiblio.org. Archived from the original on June 23, 2011. Retrieved July 17, 2011. (cited in that article) says, "The first group arrived over Oahu at about 0740, were ordered to attack at 0750 and attacked as follows: [...]". Further clarification here and/or in other articles might be useful, or might not; I'm in a rush just now and don't have time to think about that, but I thought I would mention it here. First Ship Built?[edit]

I removed a phrase from the construction section that Ward was the first ship built. Besides being unclear as to what that means (first ship ever, first ship at Mare Island, first Wickes-class built, first Wickes-class built at Mare island...), none of those are true. I don't know what that phrase was intended to mean, so I cropped it down to the more note-worthy piece about the speed of her construction. Dworjan (talk) 22:00, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
