Image concern[edit]

I think the plant in the image used on this page is misidentified. It looks closer to T. cuneatum in petal shape, leaf mottling pattern, leaf shape, relative flower size, and overall plant size. The note on the image says "Reçue gracieusement d'un amateur de trilles" ("graciously received from a Trillium-lover", I think), which suggests to me that this image was taken of a plant in cultivation. In my experience, Trillium in cultivation are frequently misidentified. How are concerns like this best resolved? Thanks. Doppelbrau (talk) 23:17, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I also have my doubts about photos of Trillium on other pages but haven't gone so far as to remove or replace one because I personally have taken photos of only a handful of species. There are tons of good photos on iNaturalist, many of them confirmed by multiple people, but my experience uploading photos that belong to others (regardless of license) has been mixed. If you own a photo of Trillium foetidissimum, by all means swap it out, especially if that observation has been confirmed on iNaturalist. Just my two cents.
