Radio[edit]

StarFM does not have a studio in Traralgon. Their studio's are in Warragul, though they have offices in Traralgon, which only accept birthdays/buyswapsell etc. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.126.97.233 (talkcontribs) 07:21, 3 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Television[edit]

Channel 31 Melbourne[edit]

On 10 April, 2009, Big Dan 1985 had added "Latrobe Valley will air Community TV channel Channel 31 is plans to launched in 2009 as well." This was removed on 13 April 2009 because it was not supported by any references and would contradict the policy of the Australian Communications and Media Authority's policy. The Channel 31 in Melbourne is licensed to broadcast only to the Melbourne area. The Latrobe Valley is not included in the license area. ACMA has to date not made any announcement of any frequency to be allocated in the Latrobe Valley region for the broadcast of a Community Television service. In fact, in recent years, they deallocated the reserved channel capacity on Analogue for community television services in many "regions" of Australia, and in the Digital Channel Plan for Latrobe Valley ACMA has only allocted space for Channels A and B, which to date the purposes of these two channels are not finalised by ACMA. Therefore, the claim by Big Dan 1985 has been removed. However, it is acknowledged that if the output of the transmitter at Mt Dandenong is high enough, such that people in Latrobe Valley may incidentally be able to receive it if they have a good antenna, then it could possibly be received, but it is not formally supposed to be receivable within the Latrobe Valley. Images[edit]

I'll try get out and take some images. What should I take? I might have one of the West End Football Complex (JC2 in particular), although it may have a game of football involving Churchill in it. -- Sk8er5000 (talk) 23:47, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Take some photos of prominent locations such as the Post Office & Ryans Pub. Both have been in Traralgon a very long time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.134.239.230 (talk) 12:27, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The link from Damen Francis (notable people) goes to the cricketer Scott Muller - new to this sort of editing, and can't see how to fix it, or even create correct area for comment! Apologies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inrei1 (talkcontribs) 09:02, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation[edit]

Whenever the automatic announcement system in Southern Cross Station mentiones Traralgon, it sounds like "Toorabbin".

If that really is the correct pronunciation, it should be mentioned in the text. --49.194.40.33 (talk) 01:53, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No idea about "Toorabbin". The IPA pronunciation in the lead is impressively accurate. (Locals do not pronounce the first "r"). I suspect the voice actor who created the Southern Cross announcements was perhaps a bit careless. HiLo48 (talk) 07:26, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

"and these two words could be combined to make a word that sounds similar to 'Traralgon'." I'm not sure if it's up to Wikipedia editors to imply either conclusions like this or their probability. If we're happy to allow speculations then we may as well include other gunaikurnai place names using the same roots, e.g. Darlimurla and Tarldarn.

The comment that the words sound similar to 'Traralgon' is largely irrelevant. That they may be what Hobson was trying to record, based on his hearing a name with 3 phonemes not in his own language is a more relevant observation. It is better to say that the letters 'Traralgon' could make a word that sounds similar to /d̪aɭgaɲ/, but again, that kind of speculation probably doesn't belong here.
