Raheem Edwards

Shouldn't he be considered a Homegrown player? He was with the academy long enough to be signed under the HGP rule and I doubt that TFC would sign him to a regular contract if they could make use of the rule. unak1978 19:47, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Did they though? Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:31, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't know. That's why I'm asking. I can't see why they wouldn't though if it was possible. MLS allows unlimited HGP signings and they do not count against the cap (for life I think, so long as they remain with their home side) so as long as he satisfies the HGP designation, then they would definitely have done so. I just wanted to clarify this as it seems like it may have been an oversight.unak1978 02:00, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Records

Why were the "Records For Games Played" and "Records For Most Goals" sections removed? They were always up to date and a good source when looking for such stats. ( 1 soccer fan 1 (talk) 23:58, 18 May 2017 (UTC) )

@1 soccer fan 1: What? It was not removed, it was hidden on May 4, 2017. There's a comment included in the hidden section explaining why the two sections were hidden. I made the change here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toronto_FC&diff=778736538&oldid=778735204 . In case you can't read either the comment or can't follow the link, the comment reads, "This has been without a source since July 2016 and yet it has been regularly updated and these [updates] must have a source. Commenting out until a source can be found." So the reason is clear and contradicts your statement that there is a "good source" as there was none at all. The section was tagged for at least nine months and WP:V requires a source. Other MLS articles with sections like this list their source. Feel free to uncomment when the source is supplied. There's no way to verify updates when there's no source and rather than revert the updates, I simply prevented the display of any potential updates. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:22, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
I never claimed there was a good source. I said the section itself was a good source, as in it was a section I viewed to get those particular stats. 1 soccer fan 1 (talk) 02:29, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
There is no general source for those sections at all. Each row in the year-by-year section has its own source. Similarly, the players of the year are all individually sourced. No source for player(s) winning MLS Golden Boot, player(s) winning MLS MVP Award or player(s) winning MLS Newcomer of the Year Award. No source for average attendance. And so maybe I'm missing the source for the most goals and most appearances, so feel free to copy it here so I can see it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:47, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Should De Rosario be included in the list of player(s) winning MLS MVP and player(s) winning MLS Golden Boot for Toronto FC? Research shows he only played 2 games for TFC in 2011 when he won those awards. It seems disingenuous. 1 soccer fan 1 (talk) 13:51, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Yes it should because he scored one of the goals with TFC as well. That's why there is a note he also played for D.C. that season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vaselineeeeeeee (talkcontribs)
It's a stretch. In contributing a single goal to TFC in 2011, he was hardly an MVP for that team. Indeed it seems that the only way to really get him onto the TFC page is with a convoluted caption that is technically correct (he was a TFC player who won the MVP award) but entirely misleading. Likewise the Golden Boot that year. JohnInDC (talk) 11:51, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Can we have a vote on weather to keep DeRo in those categories or not? As JohnInDC says, it's misleading. And do we know if TFC considers themselves a team that has had 2 MVP winners? The MLS website has TFC with 1 MVP award winner. Let's have a vote. 1 soccer fan 1 (talk) 18:27, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

We use consensus not votes. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 15:19, 27 June 2017 (UTC)

De Rosario was not a member of TFC when he was awarded the MVP and Golden Boot in 2011. He is listed as a D.C. United player on the MLS Honors page for those awards. That same page lists Toronto FC as having one MVP winner and one Golden Boot winner. Until anyone can prove that TFC is recognized as having two MVP winners and two Golden Boot winners we should keep in line with the MLS archives. 1 soccer fan 1 (talk) 17:21, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

Just wanted to throw my support behind "soccer fan 1" and his original request: please re-add the "Records For Games Played" and "Records For Most Goals" sections (most team Wiki pages have these). If it's a matter of locating sources, perhaps if these sections were made visible to all then Wiki users could help find the sources for each of the lines in the tables? 159.18.26.111 (talk) 14:04, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

I'm glad you're in favour of it. Provide sources and it is more than appropriate to add. Otherwise it looks like original research. Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:32, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

I expect that most of this data can be taken from each of the player's individual Wiki pages, or the sources cited there. For example, Giovinco's Wiki page has his entire career apps/goals in one table, with sources. It would be similar with all the other players on the lists. 159.18.26.111 (talk) 15:19, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Only if it's sourced there. There are pages that list stats across clubs. See some of the other MLS articles for these. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:28, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

A certain Hawk

Bitchy is not the official mascot. I have check the source from the article; however, the Red Patch Boys (official supporter group for TFC) have said that Bitchy is not a mascot source. While Bitchy is introduced at the start of games, she is more attune to an employee, as explained in this Toronto Star article. I cannot find any official statement from either TFC or MLS stating Bitchy is the mascot; however, she is referred to as the "Guardian of BMO Field" source.

I am not saying the mascot section should be removed, rather the information should be changed to better reflect the actual status of the bird. Lucky mac11 (talk) 14:46, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

It should definitely be clarified and the Hawk is not exclusively employed by TFC. It also worked at the Amphitheatre before it became a Stage. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 02:31, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
I have corrected the section, if there are any grammatical fixes that are required, or if someone would like to expand, please do.Lucky mac11 (talk) 09:03, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
The fan forum is not a reliable source and was removed. I also made some copy edits. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:59, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Would it be better to remove the second instance of the word "official" from the final line. Even though it is grammatically correct, it seems confusing. Immediately it says she is not the offical mascot, but then she is called the official mascot in the second line. Lucky mac11 (talk) 22:19, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Looking great. "Field" as in "BMO Field" needs to be capitalized though. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 04:10, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Right. Done. Walter Görlitz (talk) 07:35, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
