Plane unlocking cheats for Xbox 360[edit]

You need to enter the cheats key sequence very quickly while pressing the Left Trigger. Some sites including IGN claims there are two variants of the FB-22 on offer: the standard "FB-22" and the "FB-22 Strike Raptor", however the key sequence is exactly the same which means there is only one type of FB-22 available.

Plane in Trailer[edit]

Was the fighter craft in the trailer a Dassault Rafale, or a Eurofighter Typhoon? Either way, I'm sure that the US Air Force doesn't use either type. 125.238.133.43 (talk) 01:04, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know about the trailer (didn't see it), but in the screens we have some Dassault Rafales and a Sukhoi Flanker (or Super Flanker, not sure) fighting above Rio de Janeiro. Ah and there's also an F-22 Raptor. In some of the screens you can even see Santos Dumont Airport. I'm really curious about why Rio de Janeiro is in the game...--201.5.131.152 (talk) 19:58, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's a Rafale, curved intakes towards the sides of the fuselage as opposed to the square intakes directly below the cockpit distinguish it from the Typhoon. However unless I'm mistaken or its a trick of the imagery, the Rafale is slightly modified in that the main fuselage seems to be broader towards the leading end of the aircraft than it should be, along with the engines being spaced further apart from the tail.129.31.230.239 (talk) 18:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are Certainly Rafele. A Eurofighter is much more angular in its design. They rounded body is a dead giveaway. As for it being bigger, it could be that it is menat to show conformal fuel tanks, as well as a ECM suite between the engines. So a updated version of the plane, the game is afterall set almost 15 years in the future, so a modified version could very well come on the market by then. HAWX is full of ****, its some wrong Rafale. Someone should write a section on realism and how the term "simulation" applied here is like calling space invaders a flight simulator. It's arcade. Heck, in some screenshots I've seen F16s with navigation lights on in combat, with wingtip navigation lights wrong way around, red on starboard! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.240.25.12 (talk) 08:20, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay[edit]

At Kotaku, they mentioned that the game forces you to use other view modes, or something along those lines. Is this a 3rd person fighter game? Or will you be able to view the game entirely through the cockpit? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Skrip00 (talkcontribs) 05:23, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure but I hope they use the Ace Combat gameplay style with the common features of the tom clancy's games —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.162.45.70 (talk) 15:32, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As I understand it there is a 'third person' mode, that is usable in combat ie targeting reticules etc are still active..

Hello! are you still there - this video isn't available outside USA - can you find an alternative.87.102.86.73 (talk) 02:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for not responding, 87. The referenced video I placed should work on the internet browser. The U.K. link you just posted in this discussion page can be a good alternative link for users outside of the U.S. as well since Thomas Simon actually said a similar synopsis as well. Dibol (talk) 08:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK thanks, I tried to get the same video elsewhere http://www.hulu.com/watch/27244/e3-08-live-exclusive-hands-on-tom-clancys-hawx but it came up with this "Sorry, currently our video library can only be streamed from within the United States .. Hulu is committed to making its content available worldwide. To do so, we must work through a number of legal and business issues, including obtaining international streaming rights"
I'll tidy up those links -done. Thanks.

Ace Edge[edit]

We should probably try to find out for the purposes of the article if the Xbox 360 version will be compatible with the Ace Edge joystick that was released with Ace Combat 6. I have looked for info on this but haven't found anything reliable yet. Does anyone have a source that states this one way or the other?--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 15:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ubisoft have not mentioned it. So there is no point of looking for a reliable source. --SkyWalker (talk) 08:26, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to try and pose the question directly on the ubi forums. So long as the answer comes from an Ubisoft employee it should a verifiable source even though it is on a forum.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 06:58, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Platform neutrality?[edit]

The Picture shown is a PS3 sleeve. Can someone not find a platform Neitral image to appease fanboys as you KNOW it will happen some point in the future once more info generates more interest in this... Metallicadam (talk) 14:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arguably the most neutral cover would be a PC cover, but that still isn't really much more than either console. Honestly, I don't think it is an issue. Lets not look for trouble ahead of time.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 06:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

cockpit view[edit]

has there been any official conformation about an actual cockpit view? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.31.216.201 (talk) 19:39, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, there will be a front bumper mode, a rear chase mode, and a cockpit mode. 70.51.252.187 (talk) 21:47, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date (UK)[edit]

Takes place between Advance Warfighter 2 and Endwar[edit]

EndWar...[edit]

Well, the A-20 Razorback from EndWar is there. And if it's any exception, then there might also be a Su-37 Slamhound and a Eurofighter Hailstorm in-game. Release date [US][edit]

According to ubisoft.com, the release date for the game is sometime in march, yet Steam shows the game as released today (with no option to purchase). Should steam be qualified as a source when ubisoft says a different date? 76.28.156.79 (talk) 19:20, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy detected in game[edit]

I recently figured out that Mitchell is still a Captain, even in 2021. He should be a General like he is in EndWar. And isn't WWIII still going on in the Artemis and post-Artemis part of the game? 65.173.192.254 (talk) 16:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

before the end of 2014 Mitchell got promoted to Major. I remember him taking part in two missions in HAWX, one in 2014 and the second in 2021, why he is a Captain in the 2021 mission is a mystery.213.46.125.234 (talk) 16:48, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to the rank, it could be a "simulated" rank a la Rainbow Six. Clark had a simulated rank of "General" yet he was never officially part of a military. Either that, or a clerical error. Compassghost (talk) 17:53, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's worth noting that the HAWX plot line doesn't jive very well with EndWar's. Spartan198 (talk) 15:06, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know. sure he may be a captain for the ghosts but considering the details of the HAWX war and aftermath he may have been given special promotions. after all the US did lose a whole lot of officers given that a massive base like norfolk was completely taken overTca achintya (talk) 06:01, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Plane List Format[edit]

Whether or not we keep the list, the giant block is very difficult to navigate. If we are going to keep the list, it should be on a separate page for only list of aircraft in the game. Merge proposal[edit]

If bugs and errors in the game are a major concern and notable enough to have been mentioned in many places, then Tom Clancey's H.A.W.X. Bugs and Errors should be merged into this main article. As it stands, Tom Clancey's H.A.W.X. Bugs and Errors is too insubstantial to stand as an article on its own. Astronaut (talk) 22:29, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

wikipedia is not a games help site... Ubisoft have a dedicated HAWX forum people should go there for help or look in the product manuals for customer support. it should be deleted not merged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.70.183 (talk) 00:06, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since noone has yet identified any notability criteria, I too would support deletion as an alternative to merging. Astronaut (talk) 15:01, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Aircraft[edit]

Hi. Can you please tell my why we don't need a list of aircraft? HAWX is know for its wide range of aircraft, should we keep the list? Kind regards, LouriePieterse (talk) 16:56, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If it's known for its aircraft, then that's a good reason to say "it's known for its aircraft".[citation needed] It's not a good reason to include a list, as that just lengthens the article in a non-juicy manner. Further, we are not a game guide, so it isn't really appropriate for us to include that list. --Izno (talk) 17:20, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for providing me light on the subject Ilzo. I didn't know all of this, this is the first time I've read the gaming guidelines. I makes sense to me now. Sorry. Kind regards, LouriePieterse (talk) 19:33, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

System requirements & Input methods[edit]

I added the System requirements & Input methods as per the Steam Purchase & Info Page. If anyone would like to shuffle it around and move the long list of Input methods to the main article section and just put Joypad or Gamepad Feel free. I just thought the supported list of Joysticks and pads were relevant to a flight simulator because of the variety of gamers who would seek such a list. --Jenkins08 (talk) 01:12, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I bought the book based on the game (and by saying it was "based on the game", I mean this very loosely). I have trouble with editing on my computer, so I was wondering if anyone could put up the information on the article page? That might be very helpful, and, most of all, informant.
