Edit request[edit]

I would like an editor to review and add the following content to my article under the Internet Ventures section.

In 1994, Meagher co-founded Credit.Com a credit information and services company. cite link: https://www.computerworld.com/article/2586207/spam-taking-a-toll-on-business-systems.html and https://www.cbinsights.com/company/creditcom/people

In 1996, Meagher founded Mortgage.Com selling the company’s assets to First Mortgage Network in 1999. Here is a cite link: https://corporate.findlaw.com/contracts/planning/domain-name-assignment-agreement-first-mortgage-network-inc.html Toddmeagher (talk) 14:40, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: The first addition looks fine to me.

The second addition is supported only by a primary source, and it's not clear to me that the company's assets were sold in this agreement, since it only refers to the domain / website and immediately adjacent data. Remember the relevant policy on original research. Actualcpscm (talk) 10:49, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

COI article tagging[edit]

(moved here from User talk:Anachronist)

Anachronist, I would like to address your edits on my page today. I have worked with, and took the advice of, other editors in Teahouse before making changes to the article about me. I have also previously acknowledged on the article talk page my connection to the article: "The following Wikipedia contributor has declared a personal or professional connection to the subject of this article. Relevant policies and guidelines may include conflict of interest, autobiography, and neutral point of view. Toddmeagher (talk · contribs) This user has contributed to the article. This user has declared a connection. (declared here)

My changes are minimal yet you have stated "far too many substantive changes by article subject". A simple review of the article's history it is clear my changes are not "substantive changes by article subject" most are minor text additions based on the cites or simply moving existing content to a different paragraph.

Further you have stated that previously accepted and cited content as "unnecessary promotional detail". Review of the cite will show that the changes are based on the exact text from the cite not "promotional". No matter your changes were not substantial.

Please re-review of your changes as the edit history clearly shows my changes added NO new substantive content and consider removing your article notice from the top of my page as it is both inaccurate and misleading. If you do not agree, please let me know so I can request a third opinion from editors asking them to review your changes, the edit history and my talk page.

Respectfully, Todd Toddmeagher (talk) 21:20, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, that was hasty of me. I saw a bunch of edits from you and noticed some of them added a few hundred bytes of content to the article, which normally would qualify as subsantive but in this case it was adding a source, so that's fine. I am removing the tags from the article. It is good that you are using edit requests as in the section above.
The details that I removed seemed to give a less-than-neutral tone to the article, and I still think so, regardless of whether those words were used in the source. The source probably got that information from you, so they may well be your words too. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:19, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! And no, the cite source did not get information from me. In fact it got some information wrong. I am trying to be very careful to stay within the guides of COI and at the same time correct inaccurate and incomplete information. :) Being a source for AI, we all need to make sure information on Wikipedia is accurate and complete!  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 04:59, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
