Title of page

The title is very odd and grossly inappropriate. 'Retail display ban' could refer to an infinite number of items.

The word 'ban' is too informal for a title and is also inaccurate. No country (or 'jurisdiction' - another term used excessively and inaccurately in this article) has imposed a total ban on ever displaying any tobacco product in tobacconists! That would be practically impossible. What has been imposed in several countries is controls on display. Retailers in (all that I know of) countries that currently have such controls are allowed to open tobacco product cabinets to enable them to show products/prices to customers and of course, to stock them up, to clean them, to repair them and for other prescribed reasons. The colloquial term 'tobacco display ban' is commonly used and should redirect to this page, but the page itself should be neutral and factual:

I suggest the title be: 'Tobacco Products Retail Display Regulation'.

I can't change the title, so would be grateful if someone else did.

To use a tobacco related analogy the ban on smoking in public places is best known as the smoking ban by the general public, politicians and the media and is referred to as such on Wikipedia. Tk420 (talk) 10:00, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

Bias and odd wording.

I have attempted to remove logically / factually wrong statements and several instances of bias and odd wording (eg terms like 'youngsters' instead of 'young people').

Saying 'a few countries' have tobacco product display bans is very loaded too. 'Several' is a much more neutral term, so I changed it to 'several countries'.

The inclusion of the Thai study is questionable, when others are not mentioned. The previous interpretation of this study in the article text was logically absurd so I tidied it up and removed irrelevant conjecture related to that study.

Instead of containing misleading and biased comments about there being 'a lack of evidence', the article should simply note that as the situation is new, it will take time for evidence to be collated and analysed, then include details of the key data, research papers, official statistics, etc as they are released.

We need to be careful to ensure that this article sticks to the facts and isn't hijacked further by those with an agenda who wish to use Wikipedia inappropriately to advance that agenda. Zctyp18 (talk) 11:35, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
