28 August 2005[edit]

I have edited the article and made the following corrections: 1. Matam is municipally a part of Haifa and therefore I removed the reference to it in this article. 2. I added a reference to the Palestinian Arab village of Tira, on whose site the modern town was founded. 3. Corrections of style in English.

The village of Tira has no relation to Tirat Carmel whatsoever. It is located in a comletely different region in israel (Central Israel, compared to Tirat Carmel's Northern location). Also, MATAM is considered a part of Tirat Carmel, not Haifa. I have therefore changed it back.

I Disagree With the Original Article Reversion[edit]

I disagree with your reverting to the previous form of the article on Tirat Carmel:

1. Matam is not part of Tirat Carmel. You must consider that the Matam park was developed originally by The 'Hevra Calcalit LeHayfa' before being sold to the current owner GavYam. It is located within the municipal boundaries of Haifa. Perhaps you are confounding this with the Tirat Carmel Industrial Zone located at the northern entrance to the town, which has it's own share of Hi-tech firms, notably GE Medical Systems.

2. There was more than one Palestinian Arab village by the name of Tira. You must be referring to the Arab-Israeli town of Tira in the Triangle near central Israel. However, the site of modern Tirat Carmel was occupied by another Palestinian Arab village named Tira, whence Tirat Carmel received it's name. Some reminders of the Arab village remain, such as the building used today by the Tirat Carmel police.

3. When you write that "With the establishment of the State of Israel, the city finally came under Jewish control", I fear you are making a political value judgement. Such biases have no place in the Wikipedia which must strive to be as objective as possible. Please, let us describe only the facts. We cannot seem to be representing one or the other side to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. We can only strive to record all verifiable facts.

I am awaiting your response, so that we may reach a resolution. Please note that if you wish we can communicate in Hebrew, perhaps by email. --RCSB 17:58, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merged Tirat Karmel with Tirat Carmel[edit]

1. Mount Carmel is written with a 'C', and therefore Tirat Carmel and not Tirat Karmel. Also, the official website of Tirat Carmel Municipality is: http://www.tirat-carmel.muni.il. That is, again with a 'c'

2. I have added an external link which validates my claim that Tirat Carmel was developed on the site of the Palestinian-Arab village of al-Tira.

3. MATAM is not in Tirat Carmel. It is muniicpally a part of Haifa. For proof follow the following external link: http://www.gav-yam.co.il/GavYam/site/matam/eng/about_us/main.asp RCSB 17:59, 3 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Merge from Al-Tira (Haifa)[edit]

As both articles are about the same location, they should be merged. Chesdovi (talk) 12:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • no merge. maybe in 20years time but at the moment I/P conflict gets replayed when in close proximity...Ashley kennedy3 (talk) 12:19, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • No merge Nearly all of the depopulated Arab villages were replaced by Jewish localities whether they were built atop, adjacent or near the ruins. The standard policy has been to keep the Arab villages and the Jewish ones separate (See, Amqa/Amka, Yibna/Yavne, Salama (town)/Kafr Shalem, etc. --Al Ameer son (talk) 21:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
