Late 1980s broadcast of Dhopkel(?)

I recall when I was very young in the late 80s, it will have been between 1987 and 1990, Channel 4 adverstised a forthcoming sports show of what I think is Dhopkel, the Indian sport. I remember the commercial showed Indian men playing a very rough looking contact sport on a very dusty playing field, struggling around like a rubgy scrum, it looked so chaotic I couldn't see a ball or tell what they were trying to do. The voiceover described the sport as rough and chaotic, saying something like "In this sport, there are no (something, no red/yellow cards maybe), no whistle, no referee, no half measures! THIS is Dhopkel!" I forgot what the name was for a long time, but think it began with a D and dhopkel looks and seems like what it was. I could see it was a team sport but wondered if it was actually a martial art, as the whole commercial seemed to be selling it on being fun to watch guys being semi-violent with each other. This is all I remember, but I see no details here and can find nothing online about British broadcasters buying dhopkel (or any similar thing) to show in the UK. I was in London at the time, where there is a large Indian and Pakistani demographic so there would be an at least niche market for it.
