Comments

  • "Tilocálar - the string Tilo is of Atacameno language origin -[2] is" better with commas than hyphens (which should be en-dashes).
    Replaced it with a footnote. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "at about 3,167 metres (10,390 ft) elevation." at an elevation of approximately ...
  • "of four[3] or two small" odd ref placement, and this curious sentence needs a footnote.
    Footnoted this. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "the larger of the two" or four presumably??
Cut the number, as it is the largest irrespective of the number of volcanoes. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "one 4.3 kilometres (2.7 mi) " adj=on in the convert template here.
  • "three separate units' what do you mean by units here?
    Linked. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Are the dome and crater counting as two of the (maybe) four volcanoes here?
By one version of events, yes. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "diameter of 400 by 300 metres" diameter is linear, not area.
    Replaced with a hyphen. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "between 50–80 metres" no need for between.
  • "geographical depression" what's one of those, a valley?
Probably, the sources don't spell it out. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "compressional tectonic forces" any link?
  • "magmatism" link.
  • "Argentina an" comma after Arg.
  • "emission of ignimbrites and" overlinked.
  • "Lava flows have..." this is probably the most incomprehensible single sentence I have ever read. I know this only GAN but some of this jargon needs footnote explanation.
I see, but objectively I don't think that one can describe chemical compositions of rocks without resorting to a lot of jargon. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, well to enable our readers to get a handle on this, add some footnotes as we do at FAC for these terms. It's not intelligible to most of us, like 99% of us, right now. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 17:40, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@The Rambling Man:Footnoted some terms, but we don't actually footnote all such terms - Coropuna and other geology FACses do not footnote chemical terms. Concepts like "phenocryst", yes, which I have now done. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:57, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • "differentiation processes" what are they?
  • "the monogenetic volcanoes.[28]" overlinked.
  • " argon-argon dating" should be en-dash, not hyphen betwixt the argons.
  • "of 730000±500000 and 460000±50000 years" comma separators for 1000s
  • of 3-4. en-dash.
  • "margin of the Salar de Atacama,[35]" overlinked.
  • Ref 2, SHOUTING.
  • Ref 22 needs en-dash in that latitude range.
  • Ref 29 en-dash.
  • Same for ref 35.
  • Ref 36 SHOUTING.
  • Non-English sources should be tagged with a language parameter.
  • "Pourrut, Pierre" date format needs to be made consistent.

That's all I have. The Rambling Man (Keep wearing the mask...) 15:14, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
