Surprising to me that "Thundering Herd" doesn't redirect right to the Marshall Athletics page, but understandable given the other uses such as Thundering herd problem. Still, the exact words Thundering Herd (without "problem" attached) are clearly in reference to Marshall 99% of the time that someone is looking for Thundering Herd.

I think burying the Marshall team in among a handful of high school teams, and worse, a USC team that doesn't even go by that name, is to ignore what most users are looking for when searching "Thundering Herd." Rockypedia (talk) 22:02, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That's your opinion. Show me statistics (G-hits, interwiki linking, etc.) that "Thundering Herd" refers to Marshall the overwhelming majority of the time, let alone 99% of the time. Jrcla2 (talk) 22:30, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be combative about it. I did a Google search - the 99% was a bit of hyperbole, sure, but the number is actually closer to 90%. You can do the search as easily as I did. As I said before, most of these unique college nicknames that have multiple meanings just redirect right to the teams' pages and use the {Redirect |.....} template (see Ragin' Cajuns or Fighting Irish), but even in cases where the nicknames go to a disambiguation page rather than straight to the college athletic program, the collegiate teams are featured at the top; see Green Wave.
I amended my edit to match the Green Wave format, in deference to your objections. Rockypedia (talk) 06:39, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
