Rivalries[edit]

I have deleted the section on the TFN/TFS rivalry. It was largely written in a non-neutral manner, and completely lacked references and citations. If an editor can find references confirming the rivalry, and can write the section in a neutral manner, please feel free to readd it. LonelyBeacon (talk) 22:15, 11 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per what not to include in school articles, mentions of rivalries should not be listed unless third party reliable sources confirm that this exists. An editor saying "I know this is a rivalry is not a reliable source. If sources can be found for the TFN/TFS thing, by all means add it, but make sure that you avoid problems with WP:PRESTIGE and WP:PEACOCK ... keep the writing neutral! More alumni issues[edit]

I have reverted some alumni creeping back into the article. I understand that the school confirms that these people attended. The school can also confirm tens of thousands of alumni who have attended. The basic criteria for inclusion on alumni lists is that the individual must meet the general notability requirement, which means the individual either must be the subject of a Wikipedia article, or must be eligible for an article. These people are clearly not the subject of an article, and do not appear to be eligible for an article under the notability policy. Per the policy on verifiability, if there is an individual who meets notability, it is incumbent on the individual adding the information to provide a reference demonstrating notability (and in this case, that they are also an alum). In the absence of that, any editor may remove that information.

I understand that there may be a lack of trust on this issue from an editor who is insistent on re-adding this material. I am going to file a report with the Schools Project and ask for some uninvolved editors to keep an eye on the article, and determine if the removal of these alumni is proper.

Further, the last reversion of my edit removed newly added information that was supported by reliable sources. That is not an acceptable practice, unless there is a strong reason to suspect that the source is suspect. LonelyBeacon (talk) 00:16, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please change: T.F. North also serves over 1,700 (suggest: approximately 1,300) students in grades 9–12. The school's boundaries are the City of Chicago on the North, Torrence Avenue on the West, the Indiana state line on the East, and the Little Calumet River to the South.
