Birth and burial[edit]

The article says he's buried at St Martin-in-the-Fields but I found this saying he's buried at the church in Clothall. It also says he was born there, though his place of birth isn't mentioned. How accurate is this? AnemoneProjectors 12:29, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article now says he was born in Cumberlow, Hertfordshire - the only Cumberlow I know of is Cumberlow Green, literally on the border between the parishes of Clothall and Rushden, so that is probably accurate. His death and burial place is still disputed though. AnemoneProjectors 14:30, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Out of interest, I decided to look up his records on Find My Past - I found a baptism in Clothall dated 3 September 1625 (here, subscription required), and no death record, but I found this probate record (again, subscription required), which is dated 1677 and is for "Rushden Cumberlow Green". A copy of that document can be purchased from Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies. These are the only two records I can find that look a possible match for this person - and I also tried to find records relating to his two wives and his son but nothing came up. I've referenced the death information to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. This would normally be considered reliable, certainly compared to the other source, from 1831. The ODNB also says he was born in Cumberlow Green, Hertfordshire. Charles Matthews (talk) 19:22, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder why there's no death/burial record available for him, especially as there is a baptism. I don't really know what the probate record would tell us. But I'm glad we have a more reliable source. I'd quite like to know why the people of hertfordshire-genealogy.co.uk think he's buried in Clothall. Perhaps there is a monumental inscription with his name on it. Cumberlow Green on the parish boundary of Clothall so I don't dispute it as his birth place. Oh wait, I just decided to broaden my search and found his burial record under the name "Thomas Stanly" (the spelling being the reason I didn't find it in the first place). If you have a subscription, it's here. But it indeed says he was buried at "St Martin In The Fields". AnemoneProjectors 19:40, 9 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Catherine Killigrew[edit]

I'm troubled by this unsupported claim of a second wife. The ODNB says his first wife outlived him. Charles Matthews (talk) 06:57, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Killigrew makes the same claim, but ODNB is clearly reliable. I still haven't found any marriage records for either wife, so I can't really help there. anemoneprojectors 11:10, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
