So why is this ace notable?[edit]

Although this ace fails the usual standards of eligibility for notability, I have included him for two reasons:

He predates Douglas Bader by quite some years.

His acceptance into pilot training gives insight into the era's medical qualifications (or dearth thereof) for acceptance into pilot training.
