The title track[edit]
I am ALMOST positive that I read a story in Rolling Stone where Johnston said that the dying old man in "This Perfect World" abandoned his daughter after his wife was killed in a robbery. Most interpretations of the song finger the old man as being the murderer himself, but I am ALMOST positive that Johnston didn't write it that way. Anyone have any information? Abuse by priest[edit]
In regard to "Evie's Tears," it seems safe to say that the abuse the woman has suffered is at least "evidently" by a priest. The fact that the abuser has reached over "in the middle of her confession," as well as the later reference to her as a "Catholic girl," strongly (though perhaps not conclusively) suggest that a priest is responsible.Chris k (talk) 01:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
