Comments[edit]

According to the newest research the icons of the Annunciation cathedral in Moscow are not considered to be the works by Feofan Grek, as according to the ancient chronicles the icons by Feofan were placed in the earlier cathedral which was destroyed in the fire and was only later restored in its today appearance. So the icons of the modern cathedral are thought to be brought here from other places but not of the old cathedral. As a result the modern cathedral has icons of nearly the same period but not attributed to Feofan Grek. This point of view is now proclamed on the lectures on Russian Atr of the artictic department of the historical faculty in Moscow State University and is proved by the research of the nearest past.

Move?[edit]

Wouldn't Theophanes the Greek be a better primary title? After all the current version is simply an example of what could be lost in transliteration. First Greek [theophanos] is transliterated to Cyrillic Феофан Грек [fieofan grek], and then to Latinised [feofan grek]. Why not transcribe it directly from Greek to English? I'm only asking though. //Halibutt 16:05, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, 12300 Google hits vs 900 hits, plus more clear meaning. I have moved the article abakharev 16:21, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
