How Many Austrian Bishops?[edit]

The articles states that "[Innitzer] and the other Austrian bishops" signed a statement. This immplies that there were at least two other Austrian bishops. According to the article on the Archdiocese of Salzburg, however, there are only two dioceses in Austria, one in Vienna and the other in Salzburg. If that is true, the sentence needs to be rewritten. That's a interesting point! I know don't with in reference to which document is being refered to wikipedia article either. I do know one reference book says, with in brackets mine: "In fact, less than a week later, (context: March 12, 1938) all six Austrian bishops (don't know names) including Cardinal Theodore Innitzer signed a glowing “solemn declaration” in which they said that in the coming elections “it is a must and national duty as Germans, for us Bishops to vote for the German Reich.” —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.38.211.144 (talk) 21:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correction & Adding Significant Information[edit]

Dear Editors, I would like to draw your attention to two drawbacks in this article, which need to be improved (they both are about Holodomor in Ukraine): 1) In part "World War II" states: "He openly, though moderately, supported the war effort against the Soviet Union, however. Years before, he had campaigned against Soviet policies. In 1933, based on data collected by undercover investigation and photographs, Innitzer sought to raise awareness in the West of the many deaths by hunger and even cases of cannibalism that were occurring in the Ukraine and the North Caucasus at that time" However, the Holodomor was before World War II and these two phenomena are not related, so it would be logical to create a separate sub-chapter for this his activity. 2) It would be an important step toward honouring Innitzers' memory to provide some more pieces of information about his activity during Holodomor. For example, mention his committee ("Hilfskomitee für die Ukraine"), his polemical work as well as diplomatical one. A passage would be enough to broaden the public's overview of his philanthropic and diplomatic work. I find myself in a right to propose these changes as I am a scientific worker at the National Museum Holodomor Victims Memorial, which specializes on Holodomor history. Unfortunately, great contribution of Innitzer to Holodomor prevention was silenced in many sources because of USSR propaganda and now is the high time to reveal the truth. I suppose the Wikipedia to be one of the most important resources for this aim as it is aside the politics and one of the main sources of knowledge for people around the world. Thank you in advance! Innitzer[edit]

Some inaccuracy, such as two different dates given for his death. Also, many assertions not supported by citation. Finally, it has a tone of rehabilitating Innitzer, who early on urged Catholics to support the Anschluss. It is unclear what in fact he did publicly later to address Nazi atrocities, except where it infringed on his own Church.
