References in popular culture[edit]

I feel the references in popular culture need to be cleaned up, a list od so and so released a song called The blind leading the blind adds very little.

Etymology[edit]

The Pieter Bruegel painting 'The parable of the blind'[edit]

re-arrange to give better results on voice assistants[edit]

The increase in use of Google Home and Amazon_Echo devices means that a query like "what does the blind leading the blind mean?" returns the first paragraph "according to Wikipedia" I've moved the interpretation to this paragraph so that the response is more relevant. The article is constructed in chronological order of documented appearances of the saying / idiom. In this way the article can attempt to be encyclopaedic, one of the aims of an encyclopaedia :) Otherwise there would have to be some judgement or evaluation of the merits of the particular usage. The article does not infer that the later 'quotees' of the phrase plagiarised the earlier appearances, there have been may instances of spontaneous origination of concepts, but one cannot dispute the documented chronological order of appearances of the phrase because one prefers one source rather than another. So please contribute to the article and please test the evidence and references, but don't remove parts just because they don't agree with your opinion.Splodgeness (talk) 22:33, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
