I'd forgotten all about this book; I remember the kind old lady who was my babysitter/caretaker when I was growing up telling me a story about her reading me this book when I was just a very young child; when she got to the part about the reefs, she asked me "and do you know what a 'reef' is?". I answered "of course; it's that thing you hang on your door at Christmas". I remember her telling me that, but I'd forgotten everything else about the book.
