Is the Derbyshire Times really the most reliable source for music genre's? Surely there must be other sources that state they are simply pop, not indie-pop. Surely common sense dictates this? They don't even border on Indie 147.143.220.222 (talk) 13:35, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Searching for references, I've picked up a mixed bag. the likes of Last FM and Digital Spy, probably more reliable musically than Derbyshire Times, state the band are simply pop. That said, some of the bands personal accounts, such as their Soundcloud and Youtube pages, use the term indie-pop. Obviously, to any music fan or writer, this is of course untrue, but as a primary source, I assume this should prevail. Would it make more sense to have both Indie Pop and pop in the genre section, then stick with Indie Pop in the main body of text as per the bands personal description of their music? 147.143.220.222 (talk) 13:43, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not indie pop. Nothing like. Last FM is not a reliable source, and neither are their own web pages. Find several sources written by people who know what they're talking about which don't just regurgitate PR and if they say indie pop there may be a case. Why do so many of these awful commercial 'artists' like to consider themselves 'indie', and why do so many of their fans do the same? Merge awards[edit]

The page List of awards and nominations received by the Vamps should be merged back into the Vamps because the table of awards is very small, and this page about the Vamps is not very large either. I agree with this. The deletion discussion was closed way too hastily, and I disagree with the rationale used. However, since we're here, I'll support a merge. To highlight the few awards like this in their own individual article is undue, and there is no reason to believe the the information will overwhelm the main article. I only just noticed the Japanese band, they were an afterthought No, as above I don't think the Cheltenham punk band are notable, they are only mentioned in passing in a single night in the The Roxy London WC2 book and not worthy of mention in The Roxy London WC2 article. I'm afraid I don't support your alternative Move The Vamps (Australian band) to The Vamps either - even though historically and in books the Australian band has a better claim to encyclopedic significance, the fact is that the boy band is a hot property now and for the next couple of years, maybe even to the extent of letting The Vamps continue to redirect to the boyband. I just pipelinked 30 pages where the boy band had been added to every thing from Froot Loops to Leeds city centre, it's pretty certain that the boy band will continue to be seeded left right and center into any article that they remotely touch for the next couple of years. hi, re "letting The Vamps continue to redirect to the boyband?" yes I admit it, this would be abject capitulation in the face of WP:RECENTISM, however so much of wikipedia's music coverage is a blog that exists to catalogue sales figures and chart results, and it seems there's a significant commercial push from Mercury, Virgin EMI behind the boy band. this is very true they are a pop rock band NOT a boyband - theyve said this themselves on many occasions, once saying that they would much rather be called a "really manly men band" than a boyband but the fact remains they are a proper band because they play instruments. Their is a Thai pop band called VAMP. The Australian The Vamps though seems to be a more local band like all earlier mentioned "Vamp"s. Clearly the British The Vamps is the highly prominent international band and multiple hits in so many charts and the main subject as "The Vamps". No comparison with all the Vamps, including the Australian one. By the way, there was actually a discussion about this earlier in 2014, where it was preferred to use The Vamps as a redirect to Vamps disambiguation page. That point of view and consensus may have a merit I must admit.
