Not by the rules[edit]

Time to confess, I wrote this article originally and I did not play by the Wikipedia rules. I took the itinerary information from two fan sites, and fan sites are not considered reliable sources. I took the show and performance information from detailed notes that I wrote while I was attending shows on the tour (no, I wasn't a music writer, I just wanted to be able to remember the shows well — who knew!) It's all true, I would swear to it in court, but since it wasn't published it can't be allowed here. (Unless some hack music writer includes the bit about the austere white lighting during the shows in some book, that nice aspect will be lost to time ... c'est la vie.) I took the "mass cult" analysis from Dave Marsh's book on The Who, but I extrapolated the U2 part - slap on the wrist for me.

So, I've removed all of my contributions from this article, and the editors who enjoy regurgitating published books can have at it. The final state of 'my' article is at [1]. Wasted Time R 14:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

lol - now, now no need to be like that. Almost all of it can be cited - even the austere lighting. hmmm. i think there is something more to this apparent dummy spit. Merbabu 14:15, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PS, there is nothing wrong with a bit of personal experience - how do you think I put the Sydney info got in there (and yes, I got reference it in a book too!)Merbabu 14:18, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:U2UFTour.jpg[edit]

Image:U2UFTour.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Another NA Leg?[edit]

I'm positive that there was another North American leg that visited arenas. Why is it not in the article? --Starman15317 (talk) 20:12, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There was indeed, and it is metioned in the "Itinerary" section. From Feb thru to MAy 1985. It's not (yet) listed in the tour dates section. I might get around to it soon, or you could WP:BEBOLD. regards --Merbabu (talk) 21:53, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I added the 5th leg to the page. I still have to add the 6th leg, unless anyone beats me to it. --Starman15317 (talk) 03:51, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
